Here, on what is believed to be one of the oldest privately owned wine estaes in South Africa there is a prevailing air of timelessness and old-world charm. In the gabled cellar, Muratie’s winemaker practices his art in the traditional manner, allowing nature to practice its magic. While Muratie is perhaps best-known for outstaning port, the rich red Hutton soil and micro-climate provide ideal conditions for the production of top-quality wines.
